Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
