Stateside actor Finn, who appeared in beloved programs including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in LA recently having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
