President Trump Calls Families of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.
He added that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Background on the Devastating Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Response
Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”
Memorial details for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.
The event prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” the governor informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
