Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match provided a chance for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season were no match against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
